A Fire Started Under the Hood of a Jeep Liberty on Elm St.

Monroe volunteer firefighters put it out early Friday morning and the driver reportedly was okay.

A man driving along Elm Street at around 12:40 Friday morning noticed smoke and fire under the hood of his Jeep Liberty when he was near the intersection of Cross Hill Road, according to Monroe Fire Department Spokesman Kevin Catalano.

Monroe volunteer firefighters extinguished the fire and Catalano said there were no injuries, adding the vehicle was destroyed.
