A Lobster Clambake Supports Stepney Firefighters

Supporters of Monroe's Bravest dined on lobsters, clams and steaks off the grill.

What better way to support the men and women of the Stepney Volunteer Fire Co. than by cracking into freshly steamed lobsters, scooping out clams or cutting into a juicy steak right off the grill? The department held its annual lobster clambake at Stepney Firehouse One at 88 Main Street on Saturday.

Shawn Cornut, Stepney's deputy fire chief, said the event is its second largest fundraiser.

First Selectman Steve Vavrek was among the dinnertime crowd that gathered in the dining area.
