A Magazine Renewal Where the Special Offer is Fraud

Someone posing as a magazine representative bilked a Monroe man out of $70.

A Stony Brook Drive man reported a fraud incident to police on April 11, saying someone posing as a magazine representative called him with a special offer to renew a magazine he has gotten, he was billed, and his wife mailed out a check for $70, according to police.

The couple later became suspicious over the call and the man called the magazine company and was told it had never received a payment from him and that it had never heard of the company that called him with an offer to renew his subscription, police said.
