A Sunbathing Pheasant's Getting Attention Lately

Two reports of a Ring Neck Pheasant have been made from people mistaking it for an exotic bird.

A Ring Neck Pheasant has been garnering some attention lately. Monroe Animal Control Officer Ed Risko said he has gotten two calls about it over the past month.

On Feb. 12, a Nancy Drive man snapped a photo of the bird roosting on his rear deck and told police it flew away toward Glen Hollow Road when he and his wife approached. Risko said the man wanted him to identify the bird, which he thought was exotic and may have been someone's lost pet.

But Risko said it was not an exotic bird, it was a Ring Neck Pheasant.
