Beware of a Potential Tax Returns Scam
A woman received a letter, supposedly from the IRS, over a tax return she had never filed.
A 52-year-old Monroe woman told police April 2 that she received a letter from the IRS citing problems with her tax return. The only problem was ... she hasn't filed her taxes yet.
Police said she told an officer she always does her taxes online through TurboTax.
The woman contacted the IRS, which is investigating the incident and advised her to file a police report, according to police.
