Burglar Makes Off With Nothing

A house on Monroe Turnpike was broken into on Saturday.

Nothing was apparently stolen during a burglary in the 1400 block of Monroe Turnpike Saturday, but the victim was left with a broken door and a lost sense of security.

Police said the homeowner went shopping for a couple of hours and returned home at around 1:28 p.m. to find that her side door had been kicked in — breaking part of the frame. But the house was not ransacked and nothing appeared to have been taken, according to the report.

A bedroom was entered, police said, adding the victim told officers she did not have cash, jewelry or prescriptions that someone would want to steal.

Police said the exterior screen door on the side of the house was unlocked, but that the door behind it was locked and had to be forced open by the intruder.
