An Old Newtown Road couple came home at around 12:12 a.m. on Nov. 3 to find open cabinet doors throughout the house and called 911. Officers searched the home and found all of the doors to a bookcase in the living room were open, according to the report.
A window to the living room, which had been kept open a crack for the generator, was wide open, police said, adding two lamps near the window had been knocked over. Detectives believe that was the point of entry and a sliding glass door off the kitchen found open was where the burglar(s) left.
Police said a jewelry cabinet in the first floor bedroom was open and that a briefcase-style case was open on the bed in the master bedroom on the second floor, along with several drawers.
The last time the couple was home was 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 and the woman of the house said she did not notice any valuable pieces of jewelry missing, according to police, who said an inventory of belongings is underway to determine if anything was stolen during the burglary.
The incident is under investigation.
