Code Red: A Parking Ban Will Be in Effect on Friday

Police and Monroe Emergency Management issued a Code Red message at around 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Good evening, this is a Code Red Notification message from the Monroe Police Department and Monroe Emergency Management

As you are aware, a major snowstorm is forecast to hit the area. The latest models forecast the storm to hit our area beginning with light snow on Friday morning around daybreak and possibly mixed with rain. The snow will become heavier as the afternoon progresses and is expected to end sometime in the afternoon on Saturday. High winds are expected with the storm.

There is a parking ban for all town roads in effect as of noon on Friday. This ban will continue until snow removal operations have been completed. Any vehicles in violation of this ban will be ticketed and towed.

There are no current plans to open any shelter. However, as the storm progresses, the situation will be continuously re-evaluated.

Please stay off the roads during the storm. Vehicle traffic on the roads hinders snow removal efforts and constitutes a safety hazard. Thank you.
