Code Red: Malloy has declared a Civil Preparedness Emergency

Storm Nemo appears to be tracking at predicted.

Good afternoon, today is Friday, February 8, 2013.  This is Code Red notification message from the Monroe Police Department and Monroe Emergency Management.

Winter Storm “Nemo” appears to be tracking as predicted.  The latest models forecast that the snow will become heavier as the afternoon progresses and is expected to end sometime in the afternoon on Saturday.  High winds are expected with the storm.  To report any power outages, please contact CL&P at (800) 286-2000.  If you are using a generator, please make sure it is ventilated properly.

There is a parking ban for all town roads in effect as of noon on Friday.  This ban will continue until snow removal operations have been completed.  Any vehicles in violation of this ban will be ticketed and towed.

There are no current plans to open any shelter.  However, as the storm progresses, the situation will be continuously reevaluated.

Please stay off the roads during the storm.  Vehicle traffic on the roads hinders snow removal efforts and constitutes a safety hazard.

As of 11:45 a.m., Governor Malloy has declared a Civil Preparedness Emergency for Connecticut.  First Selectman Vavrek has declared the same for the Town of Monroe

Code Red notices will be issued as necessary.

Hi Steve, To stop getting emails for every comment under a story, when you're signed on, click underRead More "Hi Steve" at the top of the page, and choose Email Settings from the dropdown menu. There's an option titled "Comments", uncheck the box that is automatically checked so you will no longer receive comment updates by email.

I found that I could turn them off in my profile under e-mail settings. However, it appears thatRead More this is now an all or nothing rather than by selected posts or individual articles.

Hi Steve, The comment stream doesn't appear on the homepage in the new design. Some of the sitesRead More that went 2.0 before mine did heard complaints about that. I don't know if it will be changed or not. Right now Patch is gathering all feedback.
