Code Red: The Storm is Expected to Hit on Monday or Tuesday

Police recording provides tips for residents to be prepared for Hurricane Sandy.

Good afternoon, this is a CodeRed emergency warning message from the Monroe Police Department and Monroe Emergency Management Hurricane "Sandy" is scheduled to arrive in our area sometime Monday or early
Tuesday, according to the latest predictions.

In anticipation of this storm, we recommend that you stock up on such items as bottled water, dry or canned food, ice and propane. Also, make sure your needed prescriptions are filled. We also recommend that you top off the fuel tanks in your motor vehicles and generators.

Monroe Emergency Management will continue to monitor and track the storm, and as the pattern becomes more defined, additional and appropriate measures will be taken.
