Coyotes Hunting, Running & Limping Around Town

Several coyote sightings have been reported in Monroe in late March.

A woman driving along Fall Brook Circle at Northbrook Condominiums at around 12:50 p.m. on March 27 reported seeing a coyote run in front of her car while chasing down a stray cat. Police said the coyote snatched up the cat in its mouth before the cat wriggled free and climbed up a tree. Then the coyote laid by the tree and waited for it to come back down.

Animal Control Officer Ed Risko said both the cat and the coyote were gone by the time an officer arrived, adding the woman was given common cautions about coyotes with hazing tips to keep them from hanging around.

Two other coyote sightings were reported in town.
