A domestic incident turned into a DUI arrest on Jan. 5.
Police said officers responded to a call on Benedict Road at 1:25 a.m. when a woman's boyfriend allegedly dragged her down the stairs during an argument, injuring her leg and arm before leaving in his black BMW.
Some officers went to the house to check on the victim, while others looked for the car driven by Stephen Michaels, 34, of Benedict Road.
Police said Michaels' vehicle was spotted and stopped on Elm Street and officers smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on him. Field sobriety tests determined he was under the influence, according to the report.
At headquarters, police said breath test results showed a blood alcohol level of .198 — more than twice the legal limit .08.
During booking, two small bags of pills were found in Michaels' pocket, police said, one with 15 Xanax pills and the other with 34 Klonopin pills.
Michaels was charged with third-degree assault, DUI, two counts of illegal possession of prescription drugs and two counts failure to keep prescription drugs in the proper container. He was released on $1,000 bond and had a court date on Monday.
