Downed Power Line Closes Route 25

Route 25 is closed in both directions between Toll Gate Plaza and the Stepney Green due to a live downed powerline on the roadway.

All traffic is being diverted onto Pepper Street because of the incident until further notice.

According to Monroe Police Leiutenant Brian McCauley, at this time the cause of the incident is unknown.

"Right now it is being considered an act of God," he said.  

McCauley added that Connecticut Light and Power has been called to the scene and police will keep the road blocked off in both directions until the repairs are made.
