FBI Offering $50,000 Reward For Information in Five Connecticut Bank Robberies

Armed, masked men robbed five banks over the last two years, including one in nearby Cromwell, and all the cases are still open. Each bank is also offering up to a $10,000 reward for information in solving the case.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering a $50,000 reward for information regarding a string of unsolved bank robberies in Connecticut over the past two years.

From September 2010 until April of this year, a group of armed men wearing ski masks have robbed five banks in Connecticut and none of the suspects have since been caught.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Kimberly K. Mertz said the $50,000 reward will be offered to anyone with information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the bank robbers.

4. Webster Bank, Cromwell, October 7, 2011

5. Connex Credit Union, Wallingford, April 19, 2012

Each time, it was the same format: between three and five armed males wearing work clothes and dark masks entered the banks and subdued the patrons and tellers at gunpoint. The robbers then ransacked the teller drawers before escaping with an undisclosed amounts of cash.

So far, the only indentifying getaway vehicle may be a white Cadillac Deville, model 2000 to 2002, which was seen in the area of the Webster Bank robbery in Cromwell. Officials said the vehicle model is considered “of interest to the investigation.”

In a U.S. Justice Department press release, the FBI said it believes the robberies are linked with the same suspects involved. The bureau is working with a number of Connecticut law enforcement agencies, including local police in Fairfield and Middlesex counties as well as the Connecticut State Police.

Anyone with information regarding these bank robberies is being asked to call the FBI New Haven at 203.777.6311.
