Fire Log: Really Good Stuff Fire Remains Under Investigation

Incidents included illegal burning, car accidents, gas leaks, fires, a downed wire and automatic alarms

The town's three fire companies responded to 17 incidents during the period from July 11-17. The calls include the following:

Four motor vehicle accidents, including a three vehicle accident at the intersection of Moose Hill and Shelton roads.

Two natural gas leaks were reported, including one on the roof of Really Good Stuff, caused by a broken pipe fitting.

Firefighters responded to seven automatic fire alarms caused from cooking smoke/steam/or system malfunctions.

Two fires were reported, one was at Really Good Stuff and was extinguished by an employee prior the arrival of the fire department. This incident continues to be under investigation by Fire Marshal Bill Davin and the Monroe Police Department's Detective Bureau.

There was one report of a downed electrical wire that was sparking. The power company was called in to make repairs.

A resident was illegally burning limbs, prompting a fire department response. The homeowner was advised that a permit is needed for open burning and that open burning is suspended during the months of June, July, August and September.

The Monroe Fire Department responded to nine of these incidents, Stepney to five and Stevenson to three.
