Firefighters Find an Abandoned Dodge in Their Parking Lot

A gray 2002 Dodge Stratus was found abandoned in the parking lot of Monroe Firehouse No. 1 at 18 Shelton Road at 8:21 p.m. on June 17.

Aside from two bags of garbage in the trunk, police said the vehicle was empty.

A search of the vehicle's VIN number determined the last owner is a resident of Central Avenue in Bridgeport, police said, adding there is no record of the Dodge being reported stolen.

The car was removed from the property and Lt. Brian McCauley said the last owner will be responsible for it, regardless of whether or not he still owns it.

"That’s why, if you sell a vehicle you should always have the paperwork done with DMV and with your town assessor, so you're not taxed for it," he said.
