Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars Stolen from Bank Deposit Box

A Trumbull woman told police all the cash was taken from her safe deposit box at Chase Bank in Monroe.

A 67-year-old Trumbull woman kept several hundreds of thousands of dollars in a safe deposit box at Chase Bank, 456 Monroe Turnpike, and told police it was hard to close when she added more money to it in July of 2012. On Tuesday, she told police all of her savings were gone.

Due to their pending investigation, police would not release the exact amount of money stolen.

The theft was discovered on Jan. 19. The woman told officers she had the box for 10 years and that her rent was up-to-date, police said, adding the bank confirmed that.

A limited number of people at the bank have access to the safe deposit boxes, according to the report.

Hi Steve, To stop getting emails for every comment under a story, when you're signed on, click underRead More "Hi Steve" at the top of the page, and choose Email Settings from the dropdown menu. There's an option titled "Comments", uncheck the box that is automatically checked so you will no longer receive comment updates by email.

I found that I could turn them off in my profile under e-mail settings. However, it appears thatRead More this is now an all or nothing rather than by selected posts or individual articles.

Hi Steve, The comment stream doesn't appear on the homepage in the new design. Some of the sitesRead More that went 2.0 before mine did heard complaints about that. I don't know if it will be changed or not. Right now Patch is gathering all feedback.
