Identity Theft Bilks Monroe Woman Out of $10,628

Four fraudulent transactions were all made on Nov. 14.

A Hammertown Road woman, who had been a victim of identity theft last year, was hit again on Nov. 14 when someone made four unauthorized transactions in New York to steal $10,628 from her Chase Bank account. Police will work with the bank to investigate the incident.

On Nov. 14, police said the woman, 31, became aware of problems with her bank account when she used her debit card. When you checked her savings account, police said she learned someone withdrew $4,876.32 over the counter at a Pelham Bay branch at 10:37 a.m., then withdrew $4,752.31 over the counter at a Westchester Square branch at 10:55 a.m., before making two ATM transactions from a machine in the Bronx at 11:58 and 11:59 a.m. for $200 and $800.

She notified the bank, which advised her to contact police, according to the report.
