Identity Thief Makes $1,664 Worth of Phone Calls

A Far Horizon woman reported fraudulent charges to her Discover Card.

A Monroe woman found out that her Discover Card account was compromised after a collections agency tried to make her answer for $1,664 worth of phone calls on a Sprint account fraudulently opened in her name.

The 40-year-old Far Horizon Drive woman reported the fraud on Feb. 1. Police said the Sprint account had been opened in her name at an address in Seven Valleys, Pennsylvania, adding the victim used to live in that area, but not at that address.

Sprint advised her to file a police report and the Monroe Police Department is now investigating the incident.
