Identity Thief Steals $949 from Woman's Credit Card Account

Officers are investigating credit card fraud and a Shelton woman was arrested for violation of a protective order.

The following information was supplied by the Monroe Police Department. No arrested person is guilty until so judged in a court of law.

Credit Card Fraud

An Elm Street woman told police someone made an unauthorized $948 cash advance on her Discover card through Western Union.

Police contacted Western Union about the fraud and were told the cash advance had been made online.

The victim learned about the transaction on Dec. 6 and reported it to police on Jan. 13, according to the report. Police said the credit card account has been closed.

Violation of a Protective Order

Corrine Kapral, 18, of River Road in Shelton was arrested on a warrant Jan. 13 charging her with violation of a protective order stemming from a domestic violence incident in December of 2012. She was released on $2,000 surety bond.
