Investigation of Stolen Watches Leads to a Final Arrest

Over $1 million Swiss Army watches were stolen from Victorinox Swiss Army in Monroe. A police investigation led to five arrests.

Police detectives wrapped up their investigation into the theft of 644 watches worth a total of $1,076,605 from Victorinox Swiss Army in Monroe with one final arrest.

Marie Carattini-Bancroft was arrested on a warrant because she allegedly knew that her husband Mark Bancroft was using her eBay account to sell stolen watches, police said, adding communication with buyers was done through Marie Bancroft's personal email and packages that were sent had a return address: "Marie Bancroft 28 Auburn St. Stratford, CT."

The Monroe Police Department received some assistance from the FBI in a lengthy investigation that led all the way to Texas. It resulted in five arrests.

Four other suspects arrested were Mark Bancoft, 50, Eric Briggs, 26, Gilberto Nieves, 38, and Linda Thanassi, 51.
