Missing Monroe Woman's Body Found in Hattertown Road Area

Police are investigating the cause of Nancy Souza's death

Police found the body of the Williams Road woman, who had been missing since Monday in the woods off Hattertown Road at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The cause of her death is under investigation.

Nancy Souza, 51, was found by the Monroe Police Department's K-9 Team with its dog Liberty. She had left her house to take a walk at 5 p.m. on Monday.

Search and rescue teams were made up of Monroe police officers, Urban Search & Rescue, Aquarion officers, State Police and their canines, officers from Easton, Newtown, Stratford and other area police departments with their trained dogs.

On Saturday night, Souza had been in the St. Jude School parking lot on charges of driving under the influence, operating with a suspended license and narcotics possession.
