Monroe Animal Rescuer Charged with Drunken Driving

He was stopped near Old Mine Road on Monday.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Trumbull Police department. It does not indicate convictions.

Frederick Acker, director of the Monroe-based Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, was arrested Monday for alleged drunken driving near the entrance to Old Mine Park.

Acker, 58, of Spring Hill Road, Monroe, is charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right and two counts of failure to carry insurance.

Trumbull police stopped his vehicle near Old Mine Road and Monroe Turnpike about 9 p.m. Further details were unavailable.

His bond was set at $2,500 for an appearance March 7 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
