Monroe Homeowners Receive Threatening Calls from 'Officer Spark'

Two Monroe residents received a call from IRS "Officer Spark" on May 31, telling them they owed money in back taxes and that he would have them arrested. Both times, the same Monroe police officer called "Spark" back and was told off before "Spark" hung up on him, according to the report.

It all started when a Cottage Street resident told police he received a call from a man with a heavy Indian accent claiming to be Officer Spark from Federal Crimes Investigation, police said, adding Spark told the homeowner he owed an unspecified amount of money in back taxes.

When the resident told Spark he would call the Monroe Police Department, Spark hung up, the report said.

A Monroe police officer called Spark back and Spark claimed the homeowner had been harassing him, police said. When the officer pressed, Spark told him off and hung up on him, police said.

Police said they traced the phone number to a company in San Antonio, Texas, adding the detective bureau is following up to determine whether the company is valid.

Soon after that incident, police received a second complaint from a Blue Hills Road man who told them an Officer Spark called him, said he owed $886 in back taxes and that he would send officers to his home to arrest him, according to the report.

The same police officer called back and Spark answered again.

Police said Spark told the officer, "You'll never find me!" before cursing him and hanging up.
