Monroe Man Arrested for Stealing Alcohol, Money from Westport Liquor Store

Two former Black Bear Wine and Spirits employees are accused of stealing liquor and $1,000 cash last summer.

Christopher Ahrens, 21, of 41 Lanthoren Road, Monroe, was charged Friday morning with fourth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny after Westport police officers responded to the University of Connecticut Police Department where they were holding Ahrens on an active arrest warrant from .

The warrant stems from a complaint filed by back in July 2011, police said. According to the arrest report, Ahrens turned 21 years old in September and, therefore, was underage when the alleged crime occurred.

Ahrens and another party, who were former employees of the store, were allegedly stealing both alcohol and money, according to police. More than $1,000 was stolen over a period of four days, police said.

Ahrens was released after posting $5,000 bond. He is due in court May 15.
