Monroe Officers Back Up Newtown Police at Party Turned Fight

The following information was supplied by the Newtown police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Two people were injured, including one who was taken to the hospital, after a fight broke out at the end of a Saturday night party where beer was served at the Towns End Road home and at least 50 to 75 teens and others were in attendance, Newtown police said.

In the end, three people were charged and six people were issued infractions, police said. The injuries to the two people ranged from cuts to a head contusion.

At about 2 a.m., Sun. Aug. 21, Newtown police, who were assisted by Monroe police, were called to 2 Towns End Road on a report of a fight involving several people.

"Police were told there were cars leaving the scene containing individuals that were involved in this fight," Newtown police said in a news release.

As police approached the area of Hattertown and Hi Barlow roads, they stopped several vehicles coming from the Towns End road area to determine whether any of the people involved in the fight were inside, officials said.

At the scene, police determined the party had at least 50 to 75 people in attendance, mostly from Stratford and Fairfield, and that some of the vehicles had damage done to their tires and windows, officials said.

One person at the scene suffered a cut to the head and another a contusion, police said. Both were treated by members of the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance and one was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment, police said.

The two people who allegedly hosted the party were charged. Christopher Dorta-Johansson, 21, of Towns End Road, was charged with two counts of possession of beer kegs without ID tags, one count of permitting a minor to possess alcohol by a minor and one count of failure to halt possession of alcohol by a minor. He was released on a promise to appear Sept. 1 in state Superior Court in Danbury.

Cheryl Johansson, 53, also of Towns End Road, was issued an infraction for failure to halt possession of alcohol by a minor with an answer date of Sept. 2.

Two other people traveling in the vehicles stopped by police were charged in connection with the fight and property damage.

Peter Lise, 25, of West Avenue, Stratford, was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace. Tyler Young, 19, of Essex Court, Beacon Falls, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief. Lise was released on $500 bond and Young was released on $200 bond and both were to appear Sept. 6 in Danbury Superior Court.

Four 18-year-old teens also were issued infractions for possession of alcohol by a minor — three from Trumbull, Robert J. Barone Jr., of Hurd Road, Jeffrey Tantum, of Iron Gate Road and Brittany D. Rice, of Guilford Drive; and one from Oxford, Justin V. Sullo, of Punkup Road.

Also issued an infraction was Molly McCuen, 22, of White Street, Stratford, for possession of a small amount of marijuana.
