Monroe Firefighters Prepare for Sandy

Hurricane Sandy is expected to knock out power across the state.

On Sunday morning, Monroe Volunteer Firefighters prepared trucks and other emergency vehicles for Hurricane Sandy's arrival.

Saws were among the equipment and supplies checked and The Ladies Auxiliary ensured that the kitchen is fully stocked to help firefighters to get through the long hours they're expected to put in.

Winds are expected to approach hurricane force on Monday into Tuesday morning and the entire state could lose power from a storm that may last up to 36 hours, according to News 8 wtnh.com.
