An anonymous woman called police on March 5 and told them a Patmar Drive man had 18-20 cats locked inside a room in his house and dogs that were also receiving improper care. However, Monroe Animal Control Officer Ed Risko says six cats found in the garage were receiving proper care.
The homeowner was issued a written warning for failure to license the two dogs living in his house, Risko added.
The previous day, the man had tried to surrender the adult female cat and its five kittens to the Monroe Animal Shelter, but Risko says the shelter does not take cats.
A referral was made to private, no-kill rescue groups.
