Police Beat Firefighters in Slugfest at Wolfe Park

Officers win softball game over firefighters 19-16

Off duty Monroe police officers and volunteer firefighters converged upon Wolfe Park Sunday afternoon. No arrests, no fire, no injuries – just a competitive game of softball under beautiful skies.

Following the Sprint for Monroe, Monroe’s police officers challenged Monroe’s firefighters to a game of slow-pitch softball. In an epic battle between Monroe’s finest and Monroe’s bravest, the firefighters got off to an early lead, but the Monroe Police Department would not back down in the later innings.

In the end, police edged out a 19 to 16 victory over the Monroe Fire Department, giving Monroe’s finest the bragging rights.
