Police, DEA Investigation Ensares VN Finest Nail Salon Owner

Marijuana was being sold to minors at the business, according to police

Police arrested the owner of VN Finest Nail Salon at the Village Square Shopping Center on Monroe Turnpike during a drug bust on Tuesday afternoon. It was part of an ongoing investigation with federal agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Armed with a search warrant officers seized an ounce of marijuana from his vehicle and $20,000 in cash from the business at around 2 p.m. The suspect's vehicle was also seized.

Tin Vo, 32, of Garfield Avenue in Bridgeport was charged with the sale of marijuana and sale of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school. Monroe Elementary School is next to the shopping center where police say the drug transactions took place.

Vo posted $50,000 bond for a court date this week.

"This is a culmination of a five month investigation involving the Monroe Police Department and agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration," Capt. Michael Flick said Saturday. "The investigation is in response to reports from concerned citizens to the police department that Vo was offering to sell marijuana to minors as young as 12-years-old."

Flick said Monroe's investigation determined Vo was part of a large scale narcotics operation whose distribution possibly crosses state lines, so police requested the help of the DEA.

Vo sold marijuana to undercover police officers and DEA agents four times, before being arrested, according to Flick.

He said more charges and arrests are anticipated as the joint investigation between the Monroe Police Department and DEA continues.

Vo has been in trouble with the law before.

Flick said Vo was convicted of robbing a man he had worked with at a Chinese restaurant in Waterbury. Vo and an accomplice allegedly rented a hotel room and robbed the victim when he arrived with their food order.
