Police: Man Fled Scene of Accidents in Newtown and Monroe

Police say the man fled the scene of a crash in Newtown, then drove south into Monroe where he fled from another accident.

A Newtown man was arrested after striking another car on South Main Street and fleeing the scene of the accident, hitting another car along the way, according to police reports.

At about 6:00 p.m. on Nov. 26, police say Ronald Frate, Jr., 46, of Newtown had just pulled out of Bear Hills Road driving a white SUV when he struck another car and fled the scene south down South Main St. toward Monroe. Along the way, he allegedly hit another car and again fled the scene.

After searching for the SUV, police say they found it — in their words, "heavily damaged" — parked in Frate's driveway. He was arrested for evading responsibility, failure to grant right of way at an intersection and failure to carry insurance.

Frate was released on $100 appearance bond and will appear in court Dec. 10, police say.

Reports are based on information provided by the Newtown Police Department. Arrests are not indication of guilt.
