Police: Man Steals Polisher, Pawns it Under His Own Name

A Trumbull man was arrested on a warrant Feb. 21 for allegedly renting a floor polisher from Monroe Rent-All then pawning it.

The following information was supplied by the Monroe Police Department. No arrested person is guilty until so judged in a court of law.

A Trumbull man rented a $1,450 Essex Silver-Line floor polisher from Monroe Rent-All, 104 Main Street, last year and not only never returned it, he later sold it at a pawn shop in Bridgeport under his own name, according to police.

Francisco Lacerda, 47, of Garland Circle was arrested on a warrant on Feb. 21 and charged with fourth-degree larceny and released on $5,000 bond for a March 1 court date.

Police said Lacerda had rented the polisher on Sept. 12,2012 and owed Monroe Rent-All $1,063.50. After he reportedly did not return officers' phone calls about the business's complaint back then, police said they found the floor polisher at the Bridgeport pawn shop and applied for an arrest warrant.

On Feb. 21 of this year, Darien police, who were holding Lacerda on unrelated charges, notified the Monroe Police Department that he was in their custody before turning him over to town officers.
