Shelton Man charged with DUI and Local Woman Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

Shelton man charged with DUI

Police arrested a Shelton man Friday for driving under the influence and other related charges while driving on Monroe Turnpike.

According to the police report,  James Redwanz Jr., 40, of Shelton was stopped on Monroe Turnpike shortly before 2 p.m. after officers observed him  swerving off the road and hitting a curb near Jeannette Street.

During the investigation, police detected an odor of alcohol on Redwanz's breath which was followed by a field sobriety test, which he failed.

Redwanz additionally failed a breathalyzer test at police headquarters, which indicated his blood alcohol level was .22, nearly three times the legal limit of .08.

Redwanz was also charged with driving with a suspended license and failure to drive in the proper lane.

He was released on $500 bond and is due in Bridgeport Superior Court on July 12.

 Local woman arrested on outstanding warrant

Police arrested a local woman on two outstanding warrants for larceny and forgery while she was being held in custody by Stratford Police on unrelated charges.

Monroe authorities were informed by Stratford police Friday that Patricia Aversa, 38, of Monroe was in custody when  the outstanding warrants were discovered.

Aversa was charged with third-degree larceny and second-degree forgery from a previous incident.

However, the police report did not indicate the details of those charges.

Aversa was transported by Monroe police to Golden Hill Street Courthouse in Bridgeport where she was held on a $2,500 court set bond.
