Police Report: Got Milk Crates?

A officer stops a pickup truck on Route 8 after crates are reported stolen from Big Y.

A Big Y supermarket employee told police Tuesday someone in a pickup truck stole metal milk racks, which have wheels and fold, at 5:46 in the morning.

A check on the license plate number found the truck was owned by a West Haven resident, so police officers looked for a truck fitting the description along routes 110 and 34, according to Police Lt. Brian McCauley.

An officer driving on 110 found nothing and was heading back when the truck passed him going the other way. The officer turned around and stopped the driver shortly after the pickup turned onto Route 8.

Milk racks were in the bed of Raymond Vickers' truck along with scrap metal. Police are still investigating the origin of the metal, because all stores use the same model of milk crates, McCauley said.

However, the police officer did cite Vickers, 35, for motor vehicle violations.
