Police Report: Security Camera ID's Thieves, a Bogus Mail Delivery

Commerce Drive business burglarized and the check is not in the mail.

Caught on Tape

Police are looking for two men caught on a Commerce Drive business's security camera taking scrap metal from storage trailers on the property early Sunday morning.

The owner of American Heat Treating, Inc., at 16 Commerce Drive called police Monday to report that sometime over the weekend the locks on two storage trailers in the rear of the building were cut off and scrap metal was stolen.

During the investigation, police used the company's surveillance camera to identify two men in a dark colored SUV-style truck arriving by the trailers around 12:30 Monday morning.

The men took turns getting out and putting the scrap metal into the truck.

The first man was light skinned, wearing a dark blue baseball hat, a light blue shirt and dark blue pants.

Three minutes later, a second dark skinned man appeared in the video wearing a white baseball hat, a dark shirt and dark blue pants.

The business owner said the amount of scrap metal taken is not known at this time, according to the report.

Police said the case is currently under investigation.

Resident Cries Foul on Bad Check

A Great Hollow Road resident found some mail she thought was too good to be true — and it was.

She looked through her mail after returning from vacation this weekend and found an envelope containing a check for nearly $4,000.

A letter with the check addressed to her said she had won a prize of $3,980 from Real Time Consultants in Manchester.

Since the letter was not postmarked and had a $1 Canadian stamp, the resident reported the suspicious mail to police Monday.

During the investigation police discovered there is no Real Time Consultants listed in Manchester or no such address.

However, the phone number on the return address was tracked to Ontario, Canada.

Police said the resident was advised to notify her bank and credit card companies in case her identity was stolen and to destroy the check.

The case is under investigation.
