Officers stopped a Mazdaspeed Protegé with tinted windows as it headed east on Roosevelt Drive (Route 34) at 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 4. The traffic stop led to narcotics charges for the driver, according to the police report.

Christopher R. Crane, 20, of Chambers Road in Danbury was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of less-than-four-ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued a verbal warning for tinted windows and an infraction for possession of alcohol by a minor.

Lt. Brian McCauley said tinted windows must have a sticker from the Department of Motor Vehicles showing the agency had approved it.

When Crane's car was stopped, police said there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and that Crane appeared to be nervous and avoided eye contact with the officer. After he was asked to step out of the vehicle, Crane admitted marijuana was in the car, according to the report.

After a search of the vehicle, police said they found a sunglasses bag in a compartment on the driver's side door containing two glass marijuana pipes — one with residue — and a metal marijuana grinder. A 750-milliter bottle of vodka with the cap seal broken was on the floor of the passenger side, police said. In the glove box was a glass mason jar with two large plastic bags, one medium plastic bag and three small plastic bags containing a leafy green substance, and a large, glass multi-colored pipe, according to the report. Police said a small circular glass container with a small amount of suspected marijuana had also been found.

Crane was carrying $564 in cash in his wallet, according to police. He was released on $500 bond for a Jan. 12 court date.
