Police Reports: A Bad $9,350 Check

A Middlebury man was arrested on a warrant for issuing a bad check for his daughter's wedding and police responded to a vandalism report at a construction site.

The following information was supplied by the Monroe Police Department. No arrested person is guilty until so judged in a court of law.

Troop I in Bethany investigated a motor vehicle accident Monday when it found one of the driver's had an active arrest warrant applied for by the Monroe Police Department. Monroe officers picked up the Middlebury man, who allegedly bounced a $9,350 check for his daughter's wedding at The Waterview on June 21,2009.

Sefer Dika, 49, of Christian Road was charged with issuing a bad check and fourth-degree larceny. Bond was set at $9,500.

Police said the owner of The Waterview attempted to receive the payment from Dika, who promised to make restitution by the end of 2010, but did not.

 

A Vandalism Complaint

Police received a vandalism complaint from the owner of a construction site on Gay Bower Road Monday.

According to the report, someone super glued the door locks of a dump truck and discharged a fire extinguisher in the cab of the truck.
