A gray and white shepherd who became trapped in a foundation hole on an abandoned property at 26 Blueberry Lane was rescued Sunday, when a man living in the neighborhood called police at 1:25 p.m.

Police were able to locate the owner, who said he reported his dog missing on Nov. 25. The animal was unharmed, according to the report.

The hole was about 10 feet deep, eight feet wide and 20 feet long. Police said the yard of the abandoned property is overgrown and has two deep holes, which are safety hazards.

The town building inspector has been notified.

Stolen golf equipment

Hundreds of dollars worth of golf equipment was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on High Ridge Road.

The victim told police his $200 golf bag contained a $375 club, a $600 club, a $699 club, a $125 club, a $75 pair of golf gloves, a $65 golf jacket and $75 worth of golf balls.

He had left it on the front seat of his vehicle at around 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 2 and discovered the bag was stolen at 8 a.m. the next day, police said, adding the High Ridge Road resident believes he had left the door unlocked.

A stolen ring

A $5,600 ring was reported stolen from a Heritage Road resident on Friday. Police said there was no forced entry into the house, but that the victim had recently hosted a party.

A good Samaritan

A woman had reported losing $120 at Big Y on Nov. 29, but all was not lost. Police said a 46-year-old Monroe woman who works at the store turned the money in.
