Police Reports: A Broken Opera Window and Stolen Copper

Police are investigating the theft of copper components from the A/C units on the roof of an unoccupied commercial building on Pepper Street, and a woman reported vandalism to her Jetta.

Stolen Copper Stolen

The owner of a commercial building at 580 Pepper Street reported the theft Tuesday of major components from three rooftop A/C units. The building is currently unoccupied.

Stolen parts included copper lines and copper cooling fins, making the units totally useless and inoperable, according to police, who added the units will cost an estimated $50,000 to replace.

Opera Window Broken

A 19-year-old woman reported vandalism to her Volkswagen Jetta on Monday. It had been parked outside a friend's house on Richards Drive  between noon on Sunday and 9 a.m. on Monday when someone broke the right, rear opera window, police said.
