A Wheeler Road woman received a phone call informing her she was the winner of the $2 million drawing by Publishers Clearing House. The caller, identifying himself as George Green, then began to ask her personal questions and request that a $75 processing charge be delivered to an address in Kingston, Jamaica, via Western Union, according to the police report filed Monday.

A police officer called the phone number and the man who answered it told him he had called Mossel Jamaica Limited LTD. When the officer identified himself, the man hung up, police said.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry and that the victim could not remember whether he locked the doors the night before the theft, which he discovered at 8 a.m.

The wallet contained several debit and grocery store cards, according to police.

Fraudulent Charges

A Webb Circle woman told police Monday someone had made $572.94 worth of fraudulent charges on her Visa card.

Webster Bank reimbursed the victim's account, police said, adding the card was in her possession the whole time.

A withdrawal of zero dollars and zero cents was made from Netflix on the account and a $572.94 charge was made to NewEgg.com, according to the report. Police said the Monroe resident called that company and was told the charge was for a Smart Phone.
