Police Reports: Blackened Mailbox, Stolen Tip

A stolen trash haulers' tip led to motor vehicle charges for a suspect and a mailbox sustained smoke damage throughout

Another person's trash is ...

A Driftwood Road woman saw a blue '85 blue Ford pick up in front of her garbage cans at approximately 12:47 Thursday morning, then watched as the driver moved slowly down her street and stopped in front of a neighbor's house. A man got out of the truck and started going through those garbage pails, according to the report.

The woman walked out of her house, noticed an envelope with cash in it that she had left on top of a can as a tip for her trash haulers was missing, and called police to report a suspicious vehicle.

Officers located and stopped the pick up and the driver told them he was in the area handing out business cards. But police said Brian Loulis Sr., 35, of Porters Hill Road did not have any cards on him nor could they find any cards already handed out.

Though police could not prove that Loulis took the tip envelope, they did charge him with operating with a motor vehicle under suspension. He has a Jan. 3 court date.
