Bogus Bills

Police arrested a New Jersey man at the Sussex County jail Thursday after an investigation determined he had passed counterfeit $20 bills at several businesses on Main Street in Monroe last December, according to the report.

Gregory Deo, 29, of Copeland Avenue in Lyndhurst was charged with three counts of first-degree forgery and three counts of sixth-degree larceny. He was held on $10,000 bond.

DUI on Main Street

A Bridgeport man was arrested for DUI on Main Street at 10:54 Thursday night after heading the wrong way on his way home from Buffalo Bill's, according to the report.

Luis Armando Munguia, 26, of Washington Terrace was charged with DUI and traveling unreasonably fast. He was released on $400 bond for a July 25 court date.

Officers patrolling Main Street heard a '91 Acura Integra with its motor revving and gears shifting as it rapidly drew closer, police said, adding the vehicle was on the fog line, then swerved to the center line and back.

The Integra was stopped about three-tenths of a mile up the road and the driver, Munguia, told officers he lived in Bridgeport and was on his way home from Newtown, police said. But the report said the car was heading north, toward Newtown and away from the city.

Munguia said he had been eating wings at Buffalo Bill's, police said. He was asked to step out of the car and swayed from side to side to keep his balance, according to the report. Police said Munguia had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on him, had glassy and bloodshot eyes and spoke with a slurred speech.

Field sobriety tests at the scene determined Munguia was under the influence and breath tests at headquarters showed his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, police said.
