A woman had noticed her neighbors' dogs roaming around her yard, when the pets are normally kept indoors. Police said she walked the animals back to their own yard and saw that a rear door was open.

She thought nothing of it, but mentioned the story to another neighbor, who told her to call the police because she had seen a dirty, black Honda that appeared suspicious driving on their street earlier in the day, according to the report.

Police found that the air-conditioning unit to the dining room had been removed from the window and placed on the floor inside. The upstairs bedrooms had been ransacked and a TV set and a computer appeared to be missing, police said.

Officers did a canvas of the neighborhood and discovered that another house had also been burglarized. An air-conditioning unit was pulled out from a window and left in the bushes, police said.

Drawers and cabinets had been rummaged through and costume jewelry and a Bose music wave radio were missing, according to police.

DUI on Main Street

A driver stopped heading north on Main Street in his '99 Honda Passport without its rear plate illuminated at 2:40 a.m. Friday, was arrested for drunken driving, according to the report.

Bruno C. Souza, 19, of Maple Avenue in Danbury was charged with driving under the influence, operating without a license, failure to have taillights and possession of less-than-a-half ounce of marijuana. He was released on $500 bond for a Sept. 12 court date.

Police said the officer smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage while talking to Souza, who appeared confused and disorientated and spoke with a slurred speech. Police said field tests at the scene and breath tests at headquarters determined he was under the influence.

During the traffic stop, police said Souza admitted to having a small plastic bag of marijuana under the driver's seat.

Thousands of Dollars Stolen

A Monroe man reported Friday that thousands of dollars were stolen from his bank account through a compromised BillMeLater.Com account, which works like PayPal, according to the report.

Police said the 39-year-old resident received a statement from Bank of America showing a $2,524 payment to the online account.

The victim checked his BillMeLater.Com account and found that his name was on it, but that the contact email address and mailing address had been changed. The mailing address was for Springfield, Missouri, police said.

He also noticed two other unauthorized charges for $1,764 on Aug. 26 and $2,545 on Sept. 2, police said.

Larceny Reported on Old Zoar

An Old Zoar Road resident reported $410 worth of items taken from his yard where he keeps scrap metal, including copper piping, a crow bar, a barbell, car batteries and tools. He discovered the belongings missing on Friday and believes the theft took place sometime overnight, according to police.

The homeowner told officers he later found a white bucket with a car battery and a copper pipe in it on his property and believes a thief had been scared off and left it behind.

'Loud and Violent'

A Trumbull man was arrested at 6:51 Saturday night after allegedly breaking his and his girlfriend's cell phones and trying to break her windshield as she drove them home from a wedding, where she told police he had gotten drunk, according to the report.

Ralph Fensore, 29, of Tashua Road was charged with second-degree breach of peace and released on $500 bond for a Sept. 6 court date.

Police said the victim called officers to her Moose Hill Road home because she said Fensore was being loud and violent, while trying to break into her house. When officers arrived, police said they arrested Fensore outside.

Police said he was not being cooperative.

Fireworks Vandalism

A Doris Drive resident reported burn marks from fireworks on his brick patio Friday evening, which he estimated to have caused $150 worth of damage.

As the officer was leaving the scene, the victim discovered that fireworks were also set off inside his mailbox, which was charred and melted with burned mail inside, police said.

Narcotics Arrest

A broken taillight led to the narcotics arrest of a young Trumbull woman heading north on Wheeler Road in her 2007 Pontiac G5 at 1:59 Saturday Morning.

Andrea Veras, 18, of Shelton Road was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of less-than-a-half ounce of marijuana and possession of an hallucinogenic. Bond was set at $2,000 for a Sept. 9 court date.

After the Pontiac was stopped on Wheeler Road, near Church Street, police said the officer detected the strong odor of marijuana while talking to the driver, Veras, and the 21-year-old Monroe male passenger, who was not arrested.

When asked if there was marijuana in the car, police said Veras told the officer there were three small plastic bags of marijuana in the glove compartment. After that was found, police canine Gunner did an air scent of the vehicle and a blue ecstasy pill was found on the rear seat and a blue vial containing ketamine (a horse tranquilizer) was found under the passenger seat, according to police.

Police said Veras told officers that the narcotics belonged to her.

Loitering at D&D

A Crescent Place man was fined for loitering outside the Dunkin Donuts at 135 Main Street at 1:05 a.m. on Aug. 27, after allegedly refusing to leave after officers asked him and his friends to go.

Ian Candee, 22, was issued an infraction for simple trespass.

Police said an officer asked him and his friends to leave the parking lot, because Dunkin Donuts has a request on file that police stop loitering on the commercial property.

Candee allegedly refused to leave when the officer asked him too, but police said that his friends left the scene after other officers arrived. Police said Candee tried to get his friends to stay put.

He was fined and warned, according to the report.

Wow, It Is Real

A Mobile gas station attendant at the 172 Main Street business thought a customer had given him a counterfeit $100 bill when she purchased two packs of cigarettes on Aug. 26.

Police said he asked the customer to write her name and address on the back, promising to return the bill to her if it turned out to be real. She instead paid with a fifty.

Police contacted the Secret Service, which determined the $100 bill was real. The 1950 series bill does not have a watermark nor any security strips, police said, adding there are very few still in circulation.
