A Brookfield man was charged with DUI shortly after midnight Sunday on Monroe Turnpike near Fan Hill Road.

According to the police report, officers stopped David Fuselier, 59, of Hearthstone Drive on Monroe Turnpike near Fan Hill Road at approximately 12:23 a.m. in his 2005 Saab after he was observed crossing the center line and the white line on the side of the road.

During the traffic stop, officers could smell the distinct odor of alcohol and noticed that Fuselier had glassy bloodshot eyes.

Fuselier failed a field sobriety test administered by officers and was placed under arrest and charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane.

He was released on $500 bond for a Sept. 7 court date.

Blaming the Mailman

A Hammertown Road resident is convinced a mailman broke the hinge on his antique mailbox.

According to the report, the resident went out to check his mail Saturday, and the box appeared to be fine.

However, after the mail was delivered later in the day the resident noticed the hinge on his antique mailbox had been broken.

During the investigation officers determined that the hinge area of the white vintage antique mailbox had snapped off, but it appeared to be due to deterioration.

The resident had called the postmaster to file a complaint, but has not received a call back.
