Police Reports: Burglary, Larceny and Domestic Violence

The following information was supplied by the Monroe Police Department.

Possible Burglary

 A possible burglary was reported at Monroe’s Glenro Spirit Shoppe on Route 111 sometime between closing and 10:53 p.m. last night, Sept. 15. Witnesses saw a figure in a gray hoodie running around to the back of the store. When police arrived the front door was broken out. As yet, nothing has been reported missing. The investigation is ongoing.

 Home burglarized

A Monroe resident living not far from Route 25 returned home Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 13, to discover her home ransacked and burglarized.  Upon entering she saw that the kitchen cabinets were open and had been rifled through. The desk drawers were open and in disarray. The master bedroom had been ransacked, the drawers dumped and her jewelry box thrown on the floor.

Missing from the residence were jewelry, a flat screen TV and Dell laptop computer.

The thief or thieves entered by forcing open a lower level window. The investigation is ongoing.

Criminal Arrest

Monroe Police picked up William Dale Horlacher, 56, of 648 Whaley Ave. New Haven, from Woodbridge Police Sept. 13. While in their custody they discovered a warrant had been issued for his arrest by MPD.

On Aug.2 Horlacher allegedly passed a bad check to Monroe's Cycle Fitness, 612  Main St.

In custody, he was charged with Larceny 3 and with issuing a bad check. Bond was set at $10,000. He was scheduled to appear in court Sept. 14.

Domestic Violence

Over the past three days, MPD handled five incidents including three protective/restraining orders.
