She Didn't Order a Dell

A Pachaug Trail woman came home Wednesday to find a box from Dell had been left on her front porch. The packaging information showed that her credit card was used to purchase a laptop computer.

Police said the woman did not buy a computer and did not authorize anyone else to do so with her card. The packing slips showed the order had been made from Massachusetts over the phone, according to the report.

Police said Dell agreed to give the identity theft victim a refund.

The incident is under investigation.

Theft from Vehicle

A $162 iPod and its cord were reported stolen Wednesday from an unlocked Subaru parked outside the victim's Hammertown Road residence sometime over night, according to police.

Traffic Violations

A Bridgeport man was hit with charges for failing to have a driver's license and a registration plate after the Honda Accord he was driving had been stopped on Main Street at 10:27 Tuesday night.

Pedro Vargas, 29, of Grand Street was charged with operating under suspension and failure to display plates. Bond was set at $250 for an Oct. 25 court date.

When asked for his driver's license, police said all Vargas could provide was a passport from Mexico. Department of Motor Vehicle records showed his right to obtain a driver's license had been suspended for previous traffic violations, police said.
