Police Reports: Camping Without a Permit. That's a Lot of Benjamins

Six campers were fined $100 a piece for violating a town ordinance.

The cost of tents, sleeping bags and other camping gear can add up, and six campers at Webb Mountain Park Sunday found out that not obtaining a permit first can also be a hit to the wallet.

Five Stratford males, ages 17, 16, 21, 18 and 18, and a 19-year-old Fairfield man were fined $100 a piece for violating a town ordinance against camping without a permit after the park ranger patrolling the park found them on site 6 at 9:59 a.m.
