Police Reports: Coils Stolen One Week, Units the Next, That and more Graffiti

A second theft was reported at the diner property and a Monroe Turnpike building was spray painted

Copper coils were reported stolen from the diner roof at 568 Main Street on June 20, then three of the four air conditioning units themselves were reported stolen one week later.

Police said the units were on the ground behind the building, which is undergoing extensive renovations. The units are valued at between $6,500 and $7,000 a piece, according to the report.

The New Colony Diner was a popular place in town for decades before closing its doors a few years ago. The owners of Circle Diner in Fairfield bought the building and plan to reopen it as a diner.

Graffiti was scrawled on Paul's Haircutters' building at 439 Monroe Turnpike, according to a police complaint filed Thursday.

Police said orange spray paint was used on several places on the building sometime overnight. Someone wrote "X" "O" and "2011," police said.

The owner estimates the damage to be $1,000, according to the report.
