Hit and run leads to narcotics arrest

A Milford man was charged with drug possession on Elm Street after allegedly fleeing from a hit and run accident in Shelton late Friday.

Monroe police were informed by Shelton police sometime after 9 p.m. Friday to be on the lookout for a white minivan with passenger side damage.

Officers located the white Dodge Caravan, operated by Marc Raynor, 23, of Milford traveling from Shelton at the lower end of Elm Street near Purdy Hill shortly before 10 p.m.

During the investigation police observed the right rear tire of the van was completely missing and the tire rim was severely damaged.

Canine Officer Dennis Bradshaw and his dog, Liberty, who also responded to the scene, alerted police to the presence of narcotics, warranting a search of the van, according to police.

During a pat down search, officers discovered two "folds" of heroin in the sole of Raynor's sneaker, police said.

Raynor was charged with possession of narcotics and released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Sept. 10.

Monroe police turned Raynor over to Shelton police to be processed on hit and run charges following his arrest.

Phone Allegedly Stolen at High School

A Masuk High School student reported an Apple i-Touch valued at $200 missing Friday.

It is believed the i-Touch was taken out of a backpack while the student was in gym class.  

Police are investigating the incident.
