DUI on Main Street

Officers were dispatched to Main Street at 1:14 Saturday morning when a motorist called to complain about a 2010 Nissan Murano in front of him driving erratically.

Police located the Nissan heading north on the 200 block of Main Street and said it crossed the center line twice and was swerving to maintain its lane.

Officers stopped the vehicle and the driver appeared confused, had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on him, bloodshot and glassy eyes, and slurred speech, according to the report.

Field tests at the scene and breath tests at police headquarters determined the driver, Joseph Venezia, 44, of Charles Circle in Newtown was under the influence, police said.

Venezia was charged with DUI and failure to drive in the proper lane. He was released on $500 bond for an April 26 court date.

'I checked your computer remotely'

A 48-year-old Wheeler Road woman reported harassing phone calls Friday from a man claiming to be Michael Brown of the All Line Maintenance Computer Department.

On April 13, the caller claimed he knew her computer was infected with multiple viruses. She asked him if he was selling a service and when he said yes, she told him she was not interested, according to the report.

Then on Friday, a person with the same voice called her again, identifying himself at Michael Brown. He said he checked her computer remotely and saw it was affected by viruses. The resident told him she was not interested and not to call her again.

Two minutes later, he called her husband's business line, police said.

Police are investigating to determine whether All Line Maintenance Computer Department is a legitimate business.
